FYI: Print Permanence Archival pigment prints, otherwise known as “giclee” or “ink jet” prints, printed on high-end ink jet printers will outlast most traditional prints created in the darkroom. For my prints, we use the latest printers and Baryta (barium sulfate) papers that have permanence ratings of 100 to 150 years and beyond. Depending on how the images are stored, the life expectancy of these prints can range from 100 years up to 300 years according to Wilhelm Imaging Research, Inc. (www.wilhelm-research.com), who conduct research on the stability and preservation of traditional and digital photographs.
